After making the above post I went down and looked at the 400 again. I noticed the distributor didn't look like it was in the same position as before. I pulled the cap off and realized I had forgotten to tightened down the dist bolts and it had worked its way out of time. I retimed it on the 25 degree advance mark, tightened down the bolts and fired her up. Came right to life and purred like a lion :) Went ahead and ran it at high idle for 30 sec to a minute then brought it back to ideal for a while, no missing at all. I turned the key off and it shut off with NO dieseling at all. So I guess I have found what the problem was. Thanks for all your help and everyone elses. I'm sure in another few days somthing else will arise and I'll be back on here ;)
