Patrick, I have taken mine out without the tool, but it is a heavy rascal. Be careful with it. Don't drop it on your toes. I have been thinking about tearing my 50 M down. It needs a rear seal and new clutch. It also seems to make a little more tranny noise than I like. Good Luck with it.
