Guys, The actual "ram" is hidden inside the pipe that attaches to the cylinder. It is only about 3/4" in diameter. These cylinders had two "pipes"; an outer and an inner. That outer pipe on the cylinder doesn't move, but gave the whole works laterial stability when it was inserted into the forward tube. The forward pipe is a necessary part of the assembly tho and mounts (and usually stays) with the implement. My guess is that this tractor had a belly mount mower at one time and the owner just bolted the lift assembly up to that torque tube when the mower was removed. Allan
