300 hydraulics

There appears to be water in my 300's hydraulic oil, at least I THINK it's water. It looks a lot like a greyish light-colored chocolate milk (the color you get when you mix Hershey's chocolate syrup with milk) - doesn't taste like it, though . . . Anyway, I have replacement screens for the main filter and the pressure release screen (both of which were collapsed, and full of crud - maybe from an old hose?) but at $50 and $75 respectively, I'm kind of reluctant to install them until I get the crud flushed out first. How I do this? Thanks, Tex
