I had been pulling the back half of an eight foot tandem disc set at full angle of cut, for over a half an hour. Switched to a single five foot section of a drag. About the third round it suddenly started making a dry rumbling, metal on metal, type of sound from below, in the rear end housing. I stopped, and backed up a foot and it still made the noise. I had used the brakes for turning but they had not made any noise or been grabbing at all. Could one of them be the source of the noise? If it is a bearing, do I jack it up and rotate each axle to find which it is? Do I dare tow it 100 yards to get it into the barn? Is it likely to be something else? The fluid level was checked last month and had needed about a quart.
