My $.02 worth, If you have a Cub that charges I would agree that it's a lot more trouble than it's worth. On my Cub I took off the junk generator and retired it. Could be the regulator, who knows? Put a magneto on and charge the battery once in a while so it will start. I've about given up on putting an alternator on it because there's so little room it would need a sub sized one and I won't slot the hood. With a battery ingition and no charging it would run out of juice eventually and that's not acceptable.
