Been a long time since I adjusted a pressure plate, but if I remember correctly, I used to do them on a flat workbench. The first thing I did was to get the correct distance between the pressure plate surface that contacts the clutch and the surface where it actually bolts to the flywheel. On the B, M, and 560 there are three threaded holes in the piece that presses against the clutch, and corresponding holes in the back plate that bolts to the flywheel. Once that distance is set, then I set the finger distance. Hope this helps.
