YTers, Could anybody or everybody explain the significance of how deep to drive the valve guides into the head (shoulderless valve guides). The top end of the Super C I'm rebuilding is OK except that all of the valve guides are at varying heights - all too deep in the head. The I&T manual calls for 1" from the spring seating surface. Is there any reason I can't just drive them back out to the correct depth? What would be the negatives of leaving them where they are? The only thing I could see that it would hurt is impeding intake & exhaust gas flow with the guide too far down in the head. Thanks, Bill
