Mike - If it quits suddenly like you turned off the key it's probably an ignition problem. (If it was a gas flow problem the motor would kinda peter out over several seconds or longer....) To verify, next time it conks out immediately pull the wire out of the center of the distributor, connect it to a spare spark plug, lay the plug on top of the coil then crank the engine. If you get no spark at the plug, the problem is ignition. Conversely if you DO get spark, problem's then no fuel. Just guessing here, but is sounds like you've got a bad coil...
