I know it may be difficult, but figure out how much weight there is and the tongue capacity of your truck. That will tell you how much to put infront of the trailer wheels so that the trailer won't move around in any direction (like its designed). The weight should be a bit forward but mostly on the trailer wheels. Even though is may seem like a stupid answer, it is better that a balance between towing and carrying by each percentage (like if you are towing 75% of the weight your truck is rated to tow, you put 75% of the weight the hitch capacity is rated for). That is of course ideal. If you just need to move it, put your item on the trailer and keep moving it forward until the truck squats a few inches; you should have enough weight on the hitch to get you and your cargo to where you need to go. Good luck, and hope all goes well!!
