George- I fulheartedly agree that wide fronts offer stability, though I can't be sure how much. My statement in the previous thread regarding this subject advocated narrow fronts for the simple reason that many people are just plain paranoid of the things. I also agree that it is better to be too careful than not careful enough. But it seems to me that many people shy away from narrow fronts when they have had no experience with them. I have successfully operated narrow fronts (without rolling them) on extremely steep hillsides, in the neighborhood of 40 degrees. It does get a bit hairy at times, but if you use common sense and don't go too fast or turn too sharp for the terrain, you will do fine. Once again, I have to agree that wide fronts offer a bit more stability, but that is no reason whatsoever for most people to shy away from narrow fronts- you really have to get on steep steep slopes to start seeing a difference.

The answer to our needs materialized in the form of a '44 Farmall A, complete with cultivators, discs, single plow, a 5ft.Woods belly mower and one, mounted spare 9.00x24 rear wheel.
