Bill, Pontiac was a 289 Cu In. Chev was 283 and they "floated" the valves bout' 5500 rpm's with "juice lifters" if you set them at a lash of .008 they would wind to 6200. Pontiac was a longer stroke so they would not go anywhere near 8500 rpm's stock even with Tri carbs or duel quads. Aw, those were the days, when EVERYBODY street raced and it was FUN to drive! later' have a happy holiday season! Geo
