the spark from a magneto will be slightly greater than the spark from a battery and points distributor when that magneto is operating like it should. it dosen't depend on a battery for its voltage, so you can crank the tractor even if the battery is down, and you have a hand crank. i can crank my f-20 on the coldest day if i have fuel that will vaporize at that temprature. i go out on the coldest day to see if the f-20 will start, and it has never failed me yet. my magnet could get weak but i've never had that problem. your magnet is alnico (permanent) if you have the h-4. if you have a distributor you have at least wires connecting the battery to the coil, connecting the coil to the distributor and back. in the magneto those wires are very short or non existant. no shorts between the generator and the coil no shorts between the coil and the dist.
