Looks like NAPA in Union Grove is going to get the business, because I can get there on my lunch hour. Found out that block boiling will be $85 (seems competitive) and that the itemized head and valve work I requested will be about $225-250 (average). I found a few places in Milwaukee that could do the work cheaper, but it would only save me about $50, and it's not worth the hassle. The economics of this restoration are really amazing to me -- $400 for the tractor, $600 worth of engine rebuild parts, $350 in machine shop work, $100 worth of gaskets, carb rebuild kits, etc, and a manifold and steering wheel -- I'll have about $1,600 into this beast when done -- factory perfect! Oh yeah, forgot about the two rear tires -- ouch. But still -- $2,000 for a parade-quality totally rebuilt tractor that's 60 years old -- not so bad! And I'm having so much fun!!!!
