This morning a neighbor and I tried twisting out the 1420 IH using my 6030 JD but we only got it moved 3 ft.If my 1456 had been running I believe it would have pulled it out. There is water standing in the ruts.My neighbor will bring over his 4760 JD Monday morning if it doesnt rain. In the 48 years that I've been around SP combines I expect that Dad and I have been stuck well over 200 times on our farm and while custom cutting for the neighbors. We have pulled them out,dug them out, winched them out,let them sit until it froze up,etc. We have had to use 2 tractors more than once. A couple of the worst wheat harvests ever were 1967 and 1981.We cut wheat all summer those years. It took me 7 weeks to cut 300 acres in 1981.It started out making 60 bpa and by the time we were done it was making 20 bpa.I had the 715 IH stuck so many times I lost track. The worst fall harvest ever was 1974.We ran Arps half tracks on our 403 IH and mudded out beans and milo all fall up in to the winter when it finally froze up.Sometimes we were the only combine running in the entire county.Lots came to watch. We got stuck 8 times with the Arps half tracks on and my 856 IH pulled it out every time. This was no ordinary 856 as it had been built new as a pulling tractor. In field trim it could be turned up to 190 horses. It had a TD-15 dozer turbo, lots of pump work, special clutch, etc. It had 24.5x32 inside tires with 18.4x38 duals and would absolutely walk on water as we kept it light..It never failed to pull our combine or tractors out but also pulled out numerous neighbors. It once twisted out a stuck F Gleaner that was high centered with 100 bushels of milo on.My local wrecker man said that we were the only ones he didnt winch out at least once in 1974. We cant figure out why its so wet here.2005 and 2006 were real dry and we have never had over 5" of rain in any month this year. They have had far more rain just to the south and west of here.
