The horizontal pin in my SC was broken. Have you had it removed to check it? If it is indeed the housing that is worn, I don't see why you couldn't make a bushing for it. You will probably find that the hole is not round, though. My front spindles were also not vertical. It was caused by the ball and socket connection for the "A" frame under the tractor belly. The socket portion was broken letting the wheels tilt forward at the bottom. The old socket was cast iron. I had a new one made out of very thick steel at a local machine shop.
