I posted earlier this week about the 68 530 DOM that a friend brought to me to fix a few issues. PTO didn't work, 3pt. wouldn't lower. and left brake didn't work well.
The seller had installed all new plates into the PTO. Two tare downs to make it work and no luck.
I tore it down today. Nice new drive and driven plates installed. put it back together and bench adjusted it so the rollers would roll in and lock the plates.
slid the assy into the tractor and adjusted the assy so it would lock in when the lever was pushed back with a solid over center feel. and popped when I disengaged it. Perfect in my mind. Proceeded to install the compression spring and external counter spring, lever to keep the control lever engages or disengaged. This guy apparently thought that the spring kept the clutch engaged, without going over center and added so many washers on the spring that they bottomed out and the levers could not pass over center, and to top it of he welded the handle to the clutch shaft.
The last pic is of the plates that the seller pulled out of the pto, before putting in new ones. They are not warped or have ever been over heated.
The issue with bthe 3pt, I thought was a stuck hold valve in the DOM valve body. Before I pulled the cover on the valve I loosened the supply tube from the valve to the rockshaft housing, but arms didn't drop. What the hay? Wrangled my 200 plus lb. body up onto one arm and still the arms didn't drop. I made a jump on the arm and down I and the arms went. Oil sprayed all over the wall and bench. I guess the 3pt. piston was stuck in the bore.
The left brake was easy, adjusted it up to the RH pedal and road it a bit, and it will slide the wheel easily now.
