Kevin, I've done some reading in my IT manual, AC-17, to try to understand your problems. If I understand the manual correctly and your explanation, your hydraulics is set up for a transfer valve. The transfer valve design permits the use of traction booster with pull type implements such as a large tandem disk with transport wheels. So your traction booster is connected to the lift system in some elaborate manner that I cannot explain. What it does say will happen with it is consistant with what you say. There is a normal leakage through the valve which will cause the cylinder to drop unless the lever is all the way up. Lift and hold does not appear to be available as no descritpion is there for adjusting for lift and hold. This sounds about the same in the Operating Manual. The transport system is not designed for lift and hold unless it has a selector lever. I'm not experienced with the transport valve. My D-17 has the oil distribution housing which does permit lift and hold. I'll send you what I have if you send me an email. However, I second Hurst's suggestion to look for more information. The ticking sound is normal with the piston pump.
