Nature keeps everything in check. Did you ever notice how you never get overpopulated with cats on the farm? Start to get to many and some kind of disease sets in dwindling down to almost none. Then as a result of no cats for the sickness to live on the numbers start to go up again. Same thing with humans. Flue epidemic, polio epidemic and how many others over just the past 200 years. And then of course when we get to crowded we start to kill each other with wars. Just like putting to many pigs in a pen together. They will kill each other until population in pen is sustainable. I read somewhere that world is only using 30 some percent of the aerable land for food production. By the time we run out of food producing land we will be thinning the herd ourselves. I don't believe the world will ever have to many people on it. We can sustain many, many times more then we have now and then nature will take over and thin the herd.
