the starter bendix is engaged to the flywheelgear if you put it back in place and start the engine towing or outherwise then shut it off and it shuld come out not easy but easyer than when it is engaged . OR you can take the band off and lift the brushes remove it a pieco at a time down to the armetur and the rear plate jiggle a bit it has top get past the flywheel old art
