I once put a 12v alternator belted to a tired 5hp garden tiller motor. Under some circumstances, like charging a nearly dead battery, the alternator put a heap of hurt on that motor - lugged it right down. So, based on that my guess is that a 1/2 horse electric motor wouldn't begin to keep an alternator happy. Now, if you want to do the math, and knowing full well, that nothing in your system runs at full 100% efficiency, you already know the outcome..... Won't run for very long. Every time you convert a form of energy to another form, there is a net energy loss.
