Good to hear your Grandson is expected to have a full recovery. Thank him for his service for me. Far as records, my major records as to where and when I served were burned up in that fire they had years ago, and also my dad's who was in World War I. I have done several searches to try to figure out just where he was and when but I just have to rely on memory of what he talked about which was not all that much and I do have a copy of his discharge telling when he was inducted and discharged. Not much else. One sea rch I did showed his name on a payroll with a bunch of other soldiers. He had a disability from being gassed over in the trenches of the Argonne Forest but can't even find anything on that. So, yes, keep track of all records.
