Distillers is an excellent feed for ruminants, and research is being done regarding optimal feeding levels for single-stomach livestock. Corn is 8.7% crude protein, distillers about 25, but varies by ethanol plant within a small range. I used to feed up to 6 pounds per day to dairy cows, but for your use, maintenance, rather than production, lower levels would be appropriate. You also don"t want to change the animal"s previous ration rapidly, and the dry hay is excellent in that regard.
