Aluminum wire "works" but it must be installed and used with care. Aluminum wire will fail in a ball of fire where copper installed and used in identical circumstances works fine. Connections that don't shine, mechanical stress on connections, oxidation due to atmosphere, missed application of no-ox, under or over torqued connectors and missed re-torques. Any or all with cause grief.
