My first tractor was a John Deere 530 which I bought in 1978 and still have and will never sell. Dad and I went to the sale where it was selling and he wanted to buy the tractor. He bid on it a couple of times and stopped way below what I thought it was worth. About the time it was going to be sold I hit it a couple of times and got it (still reasonable, btw). Dad was standing on the other side of the tractor and looked at me and flashed me a big smile. I will always think he stopped bidding so I could get the tractor. We drove it home 25 miles in the middle of January and had a ball. Each of us would drive 5 or 6 miles (it was probably zero outside) and then drive the pickup to warm up. We got home and played with it the rest of the day. A little over a year later Dad was killed in a truck accident. I cherish these memories. Mike
