The NOA (North Atlantic Ocilation) has turned decidedly negative. What that means is a huge area of blocking high pressure over Greenland, which funnels arctic air southward into the Midwest instead of remaining north. It is like a great big boulder in a stream that forces the water to go around it. It buckles the jetstream so to speak, and the resulting clashes with warmer humid air from the gulf of mexico will mean storms every time it trys to warm up.
Want good weather? Get the heck out of the Midwest. Nothing but misery to be seen for several more weeks after what has already been a colder than normal winter with higher than normal snowfall.
