I brought a fairly new 16ft car hauler at a consignment auction Sat for 900 bucks. Rated at 7,000#, 83" wide, and brakes. I didn't care for the Automoble tires on it though. Loaded a 5000 lb tractor on it and pulled it home 40 miles with no problem. Look around and I think you can buy one cheaper than building one. I brought it for my son but I have one just like it already with 10,000# rated trailer tires on it. I've hauled 7000# all over the place with no problems.
