MA is just under 7%, 6 3/4 or some stupid thing. There was a ballot initiative to remove our income tax last fall. I'm in favor of the idea but they didn't have any plan for what to do with the billion dollar hole in the budget. I'm against big government but I'm anti-bankruptcy too.
I think sales tax is probably the most fair tax there is, you want stuff you gotta pay tax. People with more money tend to have more expensive stuff so they pay more tax. I'm also in favor of luxury taxes, you want alcohol or smokes? Well you can help pay for hospitals and police and whatnot.
I'm not a big fan of income tax, it encourages people to make less money and in a way encourages welfare.
