20 years ago my dad raised 15 Chinese Geese, big suckers when full grown. (standing 30+ inches.) My oldest son was 5 and intimidated by them, dad just told him "Just show 'em you're not afraid. Grab a stick, and give them buggers a love tap and they will respect ya" Once my boy found they wouldn't come close if he was "armed", he felt confident enough to herd them around the barn yard! All animals will take the upper hand and be pushy, if you let them.
