I used to have a 97 with the vortex 350. Used to get 17 mpg interstate driving. Pulled a 26' goose neck trailer with it. Biggest problem was it wasn't build to pull that big of a trailer. Bought a 2001 2500hd with 8.1, great puller but miss my 97. Wished I still had it. Think last good year GM had a great pickup. Working in GM parts I hate to have a new version. caseman-d
