Do a Disk Defragment (from the start menu, select Programs, select accessories, system tools, disk defragmenter. This will rearrange files on the hard drive to make them take less time to load. There may be too many programs (installed over time) that start and stay ready using ram memory that is needed for operations. Removing these from the start menu can help radically. Putting more ram in the main memory is probably the best solution. 2 gigabytes of main memory is appropriate. Shutting it off and restarting is an option but it just disguises the issues listed here. Get help on removing TSR Terminate and stay resident programs on the startup list if you are uncertain about how to keep them but not have them load using memory. Jim
