I went thru basic in 1953 and served in Infantry/Ranger units for the next 10 years. Fired thousands and thousands of rounds with the M1 Garand, M1 carbine M1918 ,30 cal Browning,.50 cal, etc;etc;etc. Sure, you can hit targets at 600 yards. Read my post again, you dope. I said "highly accurate" meaning tack driving accuracy out to 200 yards. Especially considering the age and condition of these weapons. Put a scope on it? I didn't say you couldn't put a scope on it. I just told him to forget about it. What I gave him was excellent advice considering he might never had an M1 in his hands.
