Dave, you have a nice little trailer for what it is, but you will change all of the dynamics by adding a dump on top of the frame. You would want the hinge point as close as possible to the rear of the axle other wise the weight would be placed near the back end of the trailer when dumping. This could be dangerous as the rear of the tractor/towing vehicle could be lifted before the load starts to slide out. It looks like your trailer uses an automotive type axle and could be overloaded if sand, gravel or soil were loaded onto it. Wagons with a bolster hoist work well for what you want to do. No offense, but don't try to make a silk purse out of a sow's ear.
