I found it interesting that, as glaciers began to recede rather quickly in Switzerland, they left exposed old forests of pine trees with over 400 growth rings and old silver mines with the miners tools in them waiting for the miners to come back. The Swiss were very upset because they were losing their precious ski slopes and were on the verge of trying to get the USA to cough up some money to compensate them. After all, this global warming has to be caused by the US. After seeing those old forests that had been quickly covered up and the old silver mines, they have quieted down somewhat.
