A piece of neoprene rubber will work as regular inner tube rubber doesent like gas. Is the sediment bulb where the bowl sets warped as lots use something dumb and then tighten till the seat gets warped then cuss cause gasket wont cure. I would check it very careful. Some thick single core cardboard should work.
