Are there any shortcuts I can take instead of waiting for a new sediment bowl gasket to come in the mail after ordering it? I am speaking of the gasket between the sediment bowl and the carb. I have a Ford 641 Workmaster.

the cork gasket on ny ollie fell apart so I found an O ring about the right size and it has worked well

Thanks,..but the gasket I was speaking of was the one between the S.B. and the carb.

I cleaned the water and crud out of bulb on my new to me MF202, gasket consisted on thick wad of paper towels cut into rings to fit

was on there a long time without leaking

Never know what one might find when they buy a used tractor. A lot of people make a lot of modifications that others would never consider.

Place the bowl on a piece of cork, cut around it with an exact or sharp knife. Remove all the center material you need to clear the float and valve. It doesn"t need to be round on the inner side

I have made gaskets with every material known to man..cork board, old inner tube,Manilla art paper, brown paper bag material..you can buy just about any material including exhaust gasket material from Carquest or any auto supply, even K mart and Walmart ..look in auto and art supply. A pair of tiny scissors, a hole punch and an exacto knife and Trace out the part or the old gasket and it doesn't take long to make. One tractor we had always had sediment issues and I would make up three or four cork gaskets and kept them on the tractor.

Tractor supply probably has a gasket to fit.
And likely a NAPA parts house can get you one quick.

You talking the bowl gasket or the banjo bolt copper washers. The sediment bowl gasket is common and any good auto parts store have them pre-cut If your talking the copper/brass washer those can be a bit harder to find

A piece of neoprene rubber will work as regular inner tube rubber doesent like gas. Is the sediment bulb where the bowl sets warped as lots use something dumb and then tighten till the seat gets warped then cuss cause gasket wont cure. I would check it very careful. Some thick single core cardboard should work.

No they are not. I needed to replace the one in my Hahn sprayer last summer(4 cylinder industrial Ford engine) Went to every imp. dealer and every auto parts store and no got. Finally bought some gasket cork and made my own. And then made another when that one leaked and then made a 3rd one which finally held.

The 641 has a small gasket.I keep a screen and gasket on hand.TSC has the kit or bring the glass bowl to a Briggs and Stratton dealer.Parts like this should be kept on hand.Making a fuel bowl gasket would be a royal pain.

An O Ring will work...but...a hydraulic backup
ring..poly or teflon, the ones used behind
O rings, are oil and fuel proof, and work even
better. I have a large Industrial O Ring kit,
and a Backup ring kit.
