The TL won't be quite as big of a turd as the 5400 but it's still a turd... I'd not think it sufficiently stronger that it would represent any upgrade. The 35/TL series tractors were more or less the competing series to the 5xx0 series Deeres. The 40/TS series Ford/NH's were the competitor to the 6xx0 series Deeres. For loader work I'd not be struck on the 4040 but I think I'd still take a 2WD 4040 over a MFWD TL100. Fronts on those TL's are not great. TS will be somewhat heavier. Simply having a heavier chassis to ballast against the loader will tend to save their front end a bit of wear and tear....
