My good friend pointed at his 80,000 dollar wrecker one day and said, pulling 4WD pickups out of the ditches on I-90 paid for that. He said if it was going to get paid for by towing front wheel drive minivans, he would be out of business. There's no "differential" between the front drive and rear drive. Any difference in tractionsn due to surface conditions, or tire conditions, and one axle is going to take over and you're not gonna be able to steer the thing. I'm not talking about the various AWD systems, just the old fashioned, hi low range, tranfer case trus 4WD.
