I am down to 4 from a high of 13 a couple of years ago. My wife thinks they have to be in out of the weather every night so guess who gets to do the stalls when it is cold. I actually don"t mind it since it gives me something a little physical to do away from my desk every day. Also helps justify some of the toys. My favorite implement is my $500 New Idea #19 manure spreader, spent a couple of years loading it onto the pickup only to have unload it back off the truck. Hay and feed do take a chunk of change though.
As somebody else said, I would be watching that colt/filly combination. If you are complaining about 10 it could double in a few years.
