It is not the pump that removes air. The pump just replaces your stock lift pump. The system usually has 2 filters. One is a water separator and the other is suppose to remove small microns of air. The air in the system comes from fuel slouching around in the tank.
While it is not a snake oil system you may not notice enough of a difference to justify the cost but like one poster said below it should help if you have noise issues.
