I have four JD dealers within thirty miles of me and two more with in sixty miles. The problem is that that there are only two owners. On Parts I just look them up on line and then just call them in. I am having problems with buying new/used equipment. The closest store, I NEVER bought any whole goods from but buy most of my OEM JD parts there. I bought most of my whole goods from another of their chain about thirty miles away. Now when I get a quote from the salesman I always dealt with I get a call from the local vulture within a few days. It seems that they are forced to use John Deere"s SALES QUOTE program. That way your quote is on the system for all of the dealers they own. You will only get that quote too, no competition any more, fewer choices. We need to control the monopoly that JD and CIH is trying to force on us farmers. I think that it is price fixing.

There is a new AGCO dealer south of me that is growing fast. Many of the JD customers are going to others. If John Deere forces out the local dealer then why should the local farmers be loyal to JD????? I have a new AGCO mower conditioner coming. After getting the run around from the local John Deere dealer system I told my old salesman to quite calling on me. I will buy from someone else. When I walked into the Agco dealership I was greeted by the owner and his son priced out what I wanted. I had a price within thirty minutes. The JD salesman took three days and then I had hassle with them not wanting to order what I wanted. I sold JD equipment at JD dealers for almost twenty years. I can look up order codes and combinations. I even called Ottumwa and talked with a friend in order fulfillment to make sure what I wanted was available. The local dealer told me he could not order it that way. I found out that they had a year old hold over that was coded like what they where pricing me. My equipment NEVER sets out side. This "new" machine has been outside right next to a state road with salt for over one year. The paint is worse than my "old" trade in.

I don"t buy much new equipment but so far the AGCO dealer is much more customer friendly than the local JD dealers are any more. He also is three thousand dollars cheaper than the JD. I know that the trade value of the AGCO will not be as high but the money saved up front will make up for that.
