I honestly heard something about that sometime back. Hoped was a rumor. Look at it this way, if China ever did get it, they wouldn't care about any reindeer or polar beers getting in the way of drilling for oil, so if it ever got to that point, why in the world would we hesitate to drill baby drill in Alaska and take the oil for ourselves? Because we would be dumb enough not to. China is angle boring for oil between Cuba and us, angle boring at us where we are not allowed to drill. Remember about 10 or so years ago when China was almost allowed to by an American refinery called...I think UniCal? Came within inches of buying it at a time when was a super push for us to sign onto the Kyoto Treaty that would have banned us from drilling for oil in America, but would have allowed China to drill for oil in America because the Kyoto Treaty did NOT treat them as a "developed" nation even though they make everything in the world.
Would we be stupid enough to give Alaska and our oil to China? I don't think that most would be that stupid, but those running the show into the ground and expecting a pat on the back while doing it aren't like most people.
