Some questions to ask yourself. Is he going to go with you for help? Is he the type friend that would come over and help you put brakes or exhaust or do other repairs/maintenance on your truck/trailer???? Something tells me you are on your own on all counts here. Also tells me his time , to him , is worth more doing something else while you do the haul. Charge him FULL fuel cost no matter what. As far as labor time , if you want to do it for free , go ahead , that part is completely negoshable. Then there is the cost for equipment use. You have the investment , HE DON'T! You pay the insurance , plates , maintenance , repairs and depreciation. Try hiring someone with a backhoe or dozer to do a small job for you sometime. Get the picture? My opinion...you got to get $1.00 a driven mile just to cover your fuel and equipment expences. After that it's up to you. Any less than that and he is asking you to pay out of your pocket. What you pick up along the way is really none of his bussiness , freind or otherwise.
