no. its the additives, not the oil that has problems with cleaning and gaskets.. Good hd additives in both types of oil will do it. hd oils have acid fighting "base" or alkali materials added to them. This alkali material will super clean the engine.. It will also remove silicon from some gaskets. The cleaning action will expose the pores in the gasket material and then you will have leaks everywhere in some cases with certain gaskets. hd oils have a setting of 11 on the base-acid scale. Water is considered to be 7 or half way from acid at 1 and base at 14. Next time your at a machine shop, ask the to see what they put in the vat to clean engines.. you will be surpized to find out its not acid, it an strong alkali material much like drano you put in your pipes to eat away all the grease and hair.
