I'm with put the snow back.

When I used to plow our snow, I'd do a couple of the neighbor's.. I was just a kid with our riding mower.. If a neighbor said here's $10 or 20 or whatever, I took it, but never asked for any.. It would pay for the gas, and in the end I'd get a couple spendin bucks to put a tank of gas in the quad or snowmobile..

The neighbors that didn't or couldn't pay would usually offer something over the year.. be it a hand with something around the farm, some produce from the garden, or just maybe, if yer lucky, some GOOD OL' HOMEMADE, STILL WARM COOKIES.....

BUT there's always THAT ONE person who EXPECTS you to do their driveway.. AND they expect it done FREE.. Well you're plowing snow all around me, so you better do mine.

We had this exact talk last night while at the watering hole.. A guy that sits with the group was talking about plowing driveways in his village with his compact tractor for people who can't do it for themselves, and there is a kid about 30ish who demands he get his driveway plowed free like the others in town.. He said a polite, hey, would ya mind.. I'd be willing to give ya a few dollars (and not that he'd take the dollars..) but it's at least not a get over here and get to it.

I see it from both sides as far as doing it free or getting paid.. But there is NO CALL for pushing your snow onto the neighbor's drive, so I say return the snow to the rightful owner.. And when they say something, just tell them THE SNOW TOLD YOU it was lost, and you helped walk it back home. Not only will it educate them, but they'll think you're a nutcase (or they'll think you're a smart a$$).. but either way, they'll steer clear of ya.

Mom always told me kill em with kindness growing up, but some people take the kindness and use it against you.. At that point you have to stand up for yourself.. show em you're not gonna tolerate their shenanigans.. Don't say you're gonna.. just do it.. Actions speak louder than words.

Brad

Today's Featured Article - Field Modifications (Sins of the Farmer) - by Staff. Picture a new Chevrolet driving down the street without it's grill, right fender and trunk lid. Imagine a crude hole made in the hood to accommodate a new taller air cleaner, the fender wells cut away to make way for larger tires, and half of a sliding glass door used to replace the windshield. Top that off with an old set of '36 Ford headlight shells bolted to the hood. Pretty unlikely for a car... but for a tractor, this is pretty normal. It seems that more often than not they a ...
