Have had one for 25-30 years here in Alabama, I don't think there difficult to obtain here as long as you don't have a criminal back ground. I've always been told by our local Sheriff that the Alabama permits are recognized with our joining states of Florida, Georgia, Tennessee, and Mississippi as those states have recipricol agreements with Alabama. I had no difficulty geting mine years ago and friends and family get them quite easily today. If you ever have to defend your life away from home it's better to have a permit on you than to be without it if you had to use your pistol.
