I've had one for years. Son got his about a year ago. Wife just got hers.
We just had a hombre who knifed his girlfriend in Grand Rapids end up ditching his car and go running on foot, just a few miles from here. Took the cops (and lots of them,) about 24 hours to get him found. Wonder why I carry? I am usually comfortable around here, but whenever I'm out of my comfort zone... Crime has found it's way out here in the boonies.
Wife ends going to several weekend vendor shows at fairgrounds and similar places, often camping out in the crank-up camper. I'm concerned for her safety.
I origionally got mine so I could carry under my jacket while hunting, and transporting - then Michigan became "shall issue," and most everyone gets a general. Yes, some restrictions. One day training class, with shooting, $105 fee - with fingerprinting, criminal background check, and possible interviews of your references. 4 year term. It's a hassle, but brings some sense of security. 'Course if you shoot someone, you're going to have to convince two courts you feared for the life of someone. First the criminal court, and then civil court as his relatives go after you for doing their "innocent" relative.
