Roy, I agree we should be allowed to carry a firearm but the FAA says different. I have to take a week off without pay, go to New Mexico on my own and attend a week long school. Then I am allowed to carry a weapon with me. I must keep it locked and secured out of sight until the cockpit door is locked behind me. Every 6 months I must go on my own time to requalify. As to the sleeping gas in the aircraft, The air systems are such that there is no way to keep gass/smoke from the main cabin out of the cockpit are. You don't want me sleeping when I'm trying to land.
