originally , almost every barn and house in the area had slate roofs , When they get old and disrepair a lot of times people take the slate off and put sheet metal. We did that with most of our buildings and the barn in the picture, which is my neighbors was done that way also. I didnt want to spend too much money on this old shed ,just keep it from falling down,
