Ther are many old dams in this part of Maine.One near me is just hand piled stone.A lot of it is still standing.Theres a stone mill building in Freedom Maine.I bought lumber from a water powered mill about 20 years ago.Ihat mill is out of use now.You can find a stone dam in every town around here.Look for a book,John Goffes Mill.The Foxfire books have info on water power.
